How to protect your skin from the sun?

Summer is just around the corner. The sun shines more and more, while we willingly take long sunbaths. The question is whether we do it properly. Did we not forget about a cream with UV protection, a hat to protect our heads and silicones for our hair? If you wish to know how to protect your skin before going out to the sun, make sure to read the text carefully.

First of all, you must know that sunbathing is not so bad. On the contrary, sometimes it is advisable to expose your skin to the sun. Why? Because the rays of sun have a beneficial influence on the production of vitamin D in our bodies. This vitamin is responsible for the proper functioning of our body. Of course, the key is to balance the amount of time spent in the broad sun. It is important that you do not extend the process of sunbathing for too long. Longer exposure of your face or body to the UV light can result in the formation of wrinkles and discolouration, damage to blood vessels, and in extreme cases can even cause skin cancer. It is advisable to spend approximately 30 minutes exposing your skin to the sun, in order to feel better.

Moreover, you should never forget to use sunscreen of not less than 50 SPF. Therefore, while being in the drugstore or pharmacy, make sure you search for cosmetics of such a designation. Additionally, pay closer attention to their composition. For example, if your skin is sensitive with a tendency to allergies, choose those with a minimum of ingredients. When choosing a product that is designed to protect your skin, it is also important that is has protection against both UVA and UVB radiation. What is also important, is the thickness of the sunscreen. The thicker the product is, the more you can be sure that your skin is protected from the sun.

Before you start tanning, it is worth learning something more about sunscreens. Basically, such products are divided into two groups: physical (mineral) and chemical ones. The task of the first one is to scatter or reflect the sunlight falling on the skin surface. This is possible due to the presence of titanium dioxide and nitrous oxide. Such products usually appear in orange or beige colour. They are especially recommended for small children or people with very sensitive skin. Chemical filters will penetrate the skin and turn solar energy into thermal energy. Additionally, they can cause a hormonal imbalance, which is why that kind of cosmetics are not recommended to use by pregnant women or breast feeding mothers.
